Carousel
myminifactory
Miniature Carousel. Designed in Sketchup 8 using its free version, this miniature carousel was printed with both Makerware and ReplicatorG on a MakerBot Replicator 2. Its design is highly tolerant of low infill and single shell printing, minimizing plastic consumption as well as build time. I have now built four of these carousels, two using Makerware, and two using ReplicatorG. While ReplicatorG produced a slightly better result, Makerware was significantly faster. Both versions worked, requiring some additional trimming with a modeling knife for the Makerware print. The first photo shows the Makerware version at 0.15 layer height and one shell. The second photo features the Makerware version at default medium print settings. By decreasing the layer height from the Makerware default medium print settings of 0.27 to 0.15, the appearance is greatly improved, although build time increases.
