CarlTronic
thingiverse
This University project, named Carl, has been under development for three weeks and is designed by the creator, inspired by animatronic techniques. Currently, it can move its eyes and eyebrows, with plans to add more actuated parts in future semesters. The head mount accommodates two Futaba s3003 servos for eye control. Although the creator isn't sure of its wider interest, Solidworks files are available on his blog, www.jakobwelner.wordpress.com, along with a video demonstrating the eye mechanism (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKZatBtCm08). Additional printing information can be found on the blog as well. The majority of the model was printed using an Ultimaker, while eyes were created on an Objet 30 Pro, iris on a Zcorp 650 for color, and eyebrows on a Stratasys Mojo with minor adjustments for Ultimaker production. Designs minimize support structures for faster printing, except for head and nose parts that required different orientations during the process.
