Carlos Drummond de Andrade was arguably the most influential Brazilian poet of the 20th century. He earned a reputation as Brazil's national poet; his poem "Canção Amiga" or "Friendly Song" is featured on the 50-cruzados bill. Regarded among the greatest Brazilian poets in history, he left an indelible mark. This bench was designed to face outward along the beach, inviting visitors to sit beside him.
