Cargo Ship - Marauda
thingiverse
I wanted to motivate my 6-year-old boy to swim longer than just a few meters, so I built this cargo ship for him. It's way better than just swimming aimlessly here and there; now he can swim after the ship and try to catch it. I took Steampunk "Customizable Ship" and gave it a makeover. The original design was great, but the upper section seemed too small to me, so I built a bigger cabin for the crew. The chimney got a slight tweak as well. I added my own designed plates for the hull where you can place containers. These containers are from 100% "GBE: Miscellaneous Accessory Set 1" made by OldMaster. I left them untouched; they're perfect just the way they are. I did resize them slightly to match the size of the freighter. When you download it, the ship is tiny, but I printed every part at 400% scale, and it turned out to be about 35cm long - that's roughly 1.14 feet for those in the US. You can place nine cargo containers on the vessel altogether - four under deck and five on top of it. The first two containers on top have plenty of space on the plate; my boy wanted it that way. To level the ship, I used some 5g weights. When all nine containers are added, the total weight seems okay to me, so you might not need any extra weights - we'll see after our maiden voyage if you do need them or not. Have fun with this cargo ship; we definitely will! Airbrushing and aging look pretty cool - it's my first attempt at it.
