This is a bronze sculpture of Cardinal Liénart by Jean Roulland, one of the key figures in the Roubaix Group alongside Arthur Van Hecke, Eugène Dodeigne and Eugène Leroy. Jean Roulland attended the School of Fine Arts in Roubaix after working in a ceramics factory. From 1960 on, he dedicated himself full time to sculpture, settling in Ardèche between 1963 and 1967 before returning to establish his permanent residence in French Flanders. Influenced by Brancusi during his youth, Jean Roulland created wooden sculptures, ceramics or stone works before developing a more expressionistic personal style from 1961. Fascinated by bronze, he taught himself the lost wax technique and cast the first replicas of many of his bronzes in his studio. At the same time, he developed a painted work consisting of paintings and mostly pastels, as well as engravings. This object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from around the world for public access.
