Cardboard Spool

Cardboard Spool

This cardboard spool, designed by me, is perfect for MakerBot filament. Initially, I made it with thicker cardboard but used pizza boxes due to unavailability of the former. To create it, cut two flanges and one barrel; bend the barrel to curl and fit it into a flange. Fold tabs back into the first flange through smaller holes, and use packing tape for stability. Attach the filament roll over the barrel and fix the second flange with more tape. Finally, insert a 10mm shaft through the arbor hole for printing purposes. Stay tuned for mount suggestions on my blog at http://charlespax.wordpress.com/2010/01/08/cardboard-spool/.
