Joint cardan or Hooke's joint is a universal joint that allows to transmit power between two shafts at an angle to each other. It's a critical component in many mechanical systems such as gearboxes, differentials and propulsion systems of ships. The joint consists of two yokes connected by a central cross, which is connected to the output shaft.
