Card Slot for CubieKid MP3 Player Box
thingiverse
This is a modification designed specifically for kids to enjoy music with the Tonuino based CubieKid music box. The original design can be found at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3148200. For more information on the Tonuino project, visit https://www.voss.earth/tonuino/. To add a slot to the top of the CubieKid box, simply make a small cutout (8.5mm x 75.5mm) on top and glue the slot from the bottom side to the wooden top case part. Next, glue the cover frame onto the top side of the wooden top case part, being cautious not to obstruct the 3mm slot. After gluing, three millimeter wooden cards should fit perfectly into the slot. The gap on the side of the bottom slot part can be used to attach a mechanical switch, which can be secured with hot glue. This switch will enable kids to turn the device on or off when inserting a card into the slot. To create custom cards, use the provided template and cut out the outline, then mill a pocket in the center of each card. The template SVG file is available for reference. For crafting the cards, 3mm plywood works well (other materials can be used too), while 0.8mm cardboard (finnpappe) serves as an ideal covering material for the milled pocket. To complete the cards, remove the RFID NFC tag from blue key chain tags found on Amazon or eBay. Alternatively, use RFID stickers instead of milling the pocket.
