IntroductionThis download includes files to make two different types of boxes: one designed to hold 12+ MTG card decks, and one designed to hold 10+ MTG card decks that are in card protectors. Both models include recessed, circular regions on the box and lid where designs can be glued in place. I have included some MTG designs as examples, but you may create your own to put your own unique twist on the box. Both box designs include their own unique handles for both easy carrying and securing the lid. I have made two of these using PETG with carbon fiber filled PETG handles and they have easily lasted the past three years of use. If you sufficiently enjoyed and made use of the free 3D models and files I have provided, please consider buying me a coffee if you are able to: https://buy.stripe.com/bIY4i488N84rcCY3cc Notable FeaturesCarry many different playing card decks and associated items in a protective caseEasily make your own personalized, circular icons for the case.Secure yet easily removable lid thanks to custom carrying handle design.Installable card deck “booster seats” to more easily grab shorter decks from the case.Standard case supports decks in sizes up to 19.5mm x 64.5mm x 95.5mm.Protective card case variant supports decks in sizes up to 36.5mm x 68.5mm x 95.5mm, Notable Printing ConsiderationsThis print takes up most of the print bed area on a Prusa i3 MK3s+ or similar printer. It is recommended to fix any problems you have with warping or bed adhesion before attempting this print. This print has fine details for the icons on the case. It is recommended to use a 0.25mm nozzle for these parts. It is also recommended to break up printing the black coloured mana cutouts print into more in case any one of the small pieces loses adhesion with the print bed.The case is very large and will require more than 1kg of filament. It is recommended to use a larger nozzle that is capable of flowing a high amount of volume. On my case and lid, I used a 1.0mm nozzle, but I would recommend using something similar to the Bondtech CHT 0.6mm nozzle, which I have found capable of reliably printing up to ~24mm^3/sec.You can print the design with something like ~15% infill and a few perimeters/walls to save on filament at the expense of some strength, however you will want 100% infill at the top where the carrying handles are mounted to ensure the handles will break before the case does. The included .3mf files are good reference points to start from if you wish to change any print settings. It is recommended to print the carrying handles out of a strong, durable material. I used carbon fiber filled PETG for my handles, and they have lasted several years of use with no sign of failure. It is recommended to print the case out of PETG. However, PLA should be acceptable if the case is not heavily abused. PETG has a higher impact resistance owing to its more flexible material properties. Creating Your Own CutoutsEither find a .svg or create a .svg file of the graphical design you wish to use.Draw a circle in your CAD or modelling software that is 80mm in diameter and then center the .svg inside, scaling it appropriately.Offset the .svg sketch by 0.1-0.2mm so there will be some tolerance for installing the separately printed pieces later.Extrude the parts of the model you wish to be one colour by 1.5mm to 2.0mm.Extrude the parts of the model you with to be other colours the same amount as in step 4.Ensure that there is a small gap of 0.1-0.2mm between different pieces of plastic in the icon so that they may be installed later without too much issue. If using a nozzle larger than 0.25mm or your printer's dimensional accuracy isn't very good, a larger gap may be required.
