Carcassone Monastery & Crossroads Tile
thingiverse
These are Carcassonne tiles I use for my own home brew mini expansions/game modifiers. They're also remixes of models from whystler who makes some awesome mini models. As I only play 2 player with my wife I'm not looking to add any more tiles, spend more money on expansions, or increase game play time. We have limited time to play while the little ones are sleeping...
How to Play
Each of these tiles replaces a tile from the stack. The Monastery replaces the 4 sided city tile and the Crossroads replaces the crossroads tile. There are only one of each of these tiles in the base game. Keep these tiles in the stack as usual and when they are drawn replace them with the corresponding 3d printed tile and discard, or randomly place back in the stack, the 4 sided city or crossroads tile. As I made this whole thing up on a whim feel free to play by my rules or not.
The Monastery Tile
The Monastery replaces the singular 4 sided city square. If the city containing the Monastery is completed at the end of the game every tiles gets an extra point. If the city is incomplete at the end of the game every tile is worth negative one point. The Monastery tile itself is only worth 2. In the example picture the completed city is worth 18. However if the city was incomplete if would be worth -7. In the event of a tie, the tiles count as zero if the city is complete or not.
The Crossroads Tile
The Crossroad tiles scores 1 for every road segment connected to it. In the example picture the Crossroads tile would score 13 points. The points are claimed by whomever has the longest completed road segment connected to the Crossroads. Meeples placed on roads connected to the Crossroads tile are left in place until all connected roads are completed, or the last tile is placed. When the Crossroads tile is scored the player with the longest complete road gains one point for all connected road segments completed or not. Any player on a completed road attached to the Crossroads tile scores the normal amount of points for their completed road segment. In the example picture a meeple placed to the left of the Crossroads tile would score 2 and a meeple placed on the road above, with a longer completed road segment, would score 13. At the end of the game incomplete roads are scored as normal and in the event of a tie both players claim the points.
Changes to Farmers
This change only works for the newer versions or Carcassone that have little extras printed on some tiles. As every game we play ends up as a protracted farmer battle I made a simple modifier in order to make farmers a little harder to play. We only place farmers on tiles with a farmhouse, cow shed, pigsty, or donkey stable as shown in the following link. https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/Tile_Reference#Tile_captions I believe this narrows down the farmer placement ability to about 18-24 tiles...
