While searching for MasterSpool compatible filaments, I discovered the straightforward SlantSpool design by Slant3D at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2850604. This spool prints smoothly and quickly, outperforming the original MasterSpool by richrap (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2769823 or https://www.youmagine.com/designs/masterspool-for-3d-printing-filament-v4). It also uses less raw filament than the MasterSpool. The only part of the design that needs to be printed twice is a single component. The two halves of the spool are connected by an easy-to-use latching system. Unfortunately, the SlantSpool is designed for 1 kg refill coils, making it incompatible with the 850 g refill coils commonly used in Europe. The CarbonoidSpool combines elements from both MasterSpool and SlantSpool designs. It features the same latching system as the SlantSpool, which I recreated using Fusion360 since only STL files are available. Each spool half has six filament attachment points, totaling 12 per CarbonoidSpool. This design is compatible with both 1.75 and 3 mm filaments. Additionally, there's a designated space for the sticker that comes with filament refills to label the spool correctly. The CarbonoidSpool is specifically designed for 850 g refill coils, but I also created a larger version for 1 kg refill coils. You can access the 3D models, STL files, and more photos on my GitHub repository at https://github.com/Carbonoid/CarbonoidSpool.
