Carbon nanotube model
thingiverse
A Carbon Nanotube (CNT) is a class of many unique compounds that are shaped like tubes and composed entirely of carbon. They come in various diameters and lengths, and some even have multiple layers of tubes inside each other (multi-walled CNTs). To create this model, I utilized Avogadro, a free molecule editing software that offers a nanotube creator feature where you can input specific parameters to design any kind of nanotube. I decided to create a nanotube with 6 hexagons at its base, 6 hexagons in the middle section, and another 6 hexagons on top. You can easily adjust these parameters in Avogadro to design different types of nanotubes. From Avogadro, I exported the model as a .PDB file, which I then opened in Chimera, another free software that allowed me to fine-tune my design. Finally, I exported the scene as a .STL file for 3D printing purposes. To prepare your printer, simply adjust the scale in your slicing software according to your needs. This model is part of an extensive collection of molecular models designed for educational purposes. In addition to this Carbon Nanotube model, I also created a diamond model that can be found on Thingiverse.
With this file you will be able to print Carbon nanotube model with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Carbon nanotube model.
