Carbon-Fiber Handle for Printrbot Simple (update)

Carbon-Fiber Handle for Printrbot Simple (update)

thingiverse

The Printrbot Simple's lightweight design makes it easy to carry, although a secure grip is necessary. The Carbon-Fiber Handle solves this issue; its parts were among the first items printed upon assembling the Simple. An oak dowel alternative exists, but carbon fiber offers more strength and stability during transportation. The handle's design was updated on August 5, 2013, to accommodate the Beta Test version of the Simple. To assemble the handle, print parts one and two according to the printer bed size, cut a 0.210-inch carbon-fiber tube into three pieces, insert O-rings onto tubes, place them in printed parts, drill holes for nails, push nails through with pliers, cover nails with O-rings, attach handle using screws, and enjoy! Materials required include four printed parts, four O-rings, six brass screws, six wire nails, and a carbon fiber tube. Printing the handle in ABS on a Printrbot LC ensures secure handling from the start.
