# Smoke-Snuffer ## Portable Activated Carbon Smell Filter/Smoke Filter ### About This simple two-part portable smoke filter is designed to be filled with activated charcoal pellets. The pellets absorb and reduce odors that are blown through it. You can use whatever alternative smell-absorbing materials you prefer, but the pellets last far longer than paper towels or dryer sheets, are far cheaper overall, and work way better! Three sizes to choose from: * Small size: 112mm x 58mm * Medium size: 130mm x 58mm * Large size: 160mm x 58mm The larger the size, the better the smell-absorption, but all sizes work well in our experience. You can also scale it up to your needs. The mouthpiece is 1 inch / 2 cm wide. ### Directions Simply fill the body from the bottom with activated charcoal pellets (you can find many used for use in aquariums in pet stores or on Amazon). Fill it as high as you can while allowing the bottom filter to press on and fit snugly. We don't recommend using the media bags that come with some brands, as they tend to leave gaps the smells can escape through. Exhale slowly through the mouthpiece (never inhale). The slower the smells travel through the carbon, the more they're absorbed. After using it for a while, the pellets will become saturated and stop absorbing odors as well. Simply twist and pull the bottom filter off, dump them out (they are biodegradable and non-toxic), and replace with fresh pellets. Not only does charcoal last much longer than your traditional dryer sheet smoke snuffer, but it works better by absorbing the smells instead of covering them up. And they keep the polyester in dryer sheets (which doesn't biodegrade!) from filling up our landfills. #### Pro Tip: If the bottom piece is too small to fit tightly in place, you can reprint it at +1% scale. Alternatively, you can place a piece of paper towel or dryer sheet over it, push it into place with the sheet as a gasket, then trim the excess. This also prevents carbon dust from coming out of the bottom holes: ![Filter Trick](https://i.imgur.com/aCRjFvj.jpg) --------------------------- ### Find More From Smoke-Snuffer! While activated charcoal is not poisonous or harmful in our digestive tract (in fact, it's used to absorb toxins and poisons in our gut), the dust can cause lung irritation or can trigger allergic reactions. Exhale only!
