Caracalla (188-217), officially known as Antoninus, held the position of Roman emperor from 198 to 217 AD. Born into the Severan Dynasty, he was the elder son of Septimius Severus and Julia Domna. He shared co-ruler status with his father since 198, then continued on alongside his brother Geta, emperor from 209, following their father's death in 211. However, Caracalla had his brother eliminated that same year and ruled solo as the sole ruler of the Roman Empire thereafter.
