Car Stereo Case (Connects2 + MP3 Module)

The Civic Mk8 doesn't come with aux as standard (how annoying). So a common fix is to install a "Connects2". However that doesn't have USB or SD card reader. Mine only had RCA connection. So I decided to merge a module with it. Weren't sure if it would work, but I didn't want an ipod dangling, cables and constantly having to charge it. Also I started to notice a whirring noise which seemed to be related to the RPM as I accelerated. I'm guessing it was picking up frequencies, perhaps through the cable/ipod. But I could have fried it slightly from poking around looking for a 5v source and how I could wire the module to it (see pic). I checked to see if there was a parasitic draw with ignition off, and there isn't. I doubt it pulls much current anyway. The case fits easily inside the console pocket (Civic MK8), so when the pocket's lid is down, no one can see it. The module is mounted with 2x M3 bolts(10mm). The Connects2 board may differ in dimensions on certain models. Use small screws (perhaps self tapping) to mount the board, but it can sit somewhat loose. The case lid just plonkes on top with tabs to keep it in place. If you like my designs, check out my other designs, follow and like my Facebook page!
