Car Safety Hammer
thingiverse
Ensure your car is fully equipped in case of accidents with a safety hammer featuring a blade to cut seat belts and a hammer end to smash windows. Note that I haven't tried or tested it yet. Feel free to suggest any modifications, or create your own version based on this information. To print the safety hammer, use the 'Safety Hammer' file for a two-piece build compatible with RepRap printers. For a five-piece build suitable for MakerBot platforms, print 'Blade,' 'Handle,' and 'fixing plate.' This design allows for two-tone color usage. For the blade, obtain a Stanley Knife Blade '11-921' from 99E models. Place it in the trapezium slot. Use an M8 bolt with a ground or filed tip to fit into the hammer head. Secure the bolt with nuts to adjust spacing or add weight (if using a threaded hex head screw, this step is not necessary). Assemble both sides using M5 nuts and bolts, ensuring a minimum of 16mm for each half (use glue if needed for blade stability). For the five-part build, fix the bottom halves of hammer and blade together with a small metal plate or printed plate. Then, attach the nuts, bolts, and blade before fitting the top halves together. While this DIY safety hammer is an alternative option, it's advisable to purchase a genuine one for emergencies.
