Car radio head unit rear support, 4mm
thingiverse
This thing inserts into the back of your car radio head unit and basically sustains it from the rear. It's often embedded in dash trim kits for radios, but sometimes you lose it or it never came with the kit and you'd phone up the manufacturer and request one, but you can't be bothered to email them and hope they respond and then wait a few weeks for them to ship one to you because you need to install your radio right now. This is why we have 3D printers. I created this with a hole for an M4 screw. To use, find an M4 screw that's 15-20mm long. Insert it into the hole of the thing. That will cut the threads. Now extract. Cut off the tip. Now insert the crapped-up end (the ruined end that you took the tip off of) into the hole in the thing until you have 6mm or so remaining exposed. The amount left sticking out should not exceed what the radio manufacturer said was the maximum, if they even specify it. Mine specified 8mm. Anyway, now you can insert this into the back of the head unit, and you'll have rear support. And you won't have to deal with some subpar company that lacks quality control. Print Settings: Rafts - Doesn't Matter. Supports - Doesn't Matter. Notes: Designed in inches. 1 unit = 0.001 inch. If your slicer works in mm, scale by 0.0254. The hex is 15.875mm from flat to flat.
