Version 2 of this "thing" boasts improvements over its predecessor due to several key features. It is made with fewer components, requiring less plastic and eliminating welding. The base in V2 is thicker at 6mm compared to the thin 2mm base in version 1 which prevented buckling under heat or sun exposure. Additionally, the flanges designed for cup-holder compatibility in v1 sometimes failed during cornering. In response, v2 offers slots for attaching to a non-printed cup-holder attachment of your choice, removing this issue entirely. The 'hooks' are also further apart than in v1, providing better grip and less torque during cornering. Lastly, the cup-holder attachment method is left up to the user, offering versatility with options including a cardboard puck with string or a cross-bar with zip-lock ties.
