Car mountable Wireless Qi Charging Dock for Galaxy Note 4
thingiverse
Wireless charging your phone while using it as GPS in your car is a convenient feature that allows you to keep your eyes on the road and stay connected without compromising safety. Don't text and drive, use your phone's built-in GPS navigation system instead. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes with an OEM charging back cover, which adds a bit of extra thickness compared to the non-charging version. However, this slight difference doesn't affect performance. The two covers fit snugly on my mounts, ensuring they stay in place even when driving at high speeds. To create this wireless charging setup, I'm using a common and affordable Qi charger puck, such as the Powerbot PB1020. This design allows for easy installation and ensures seamless charging while navigating through traffic. This system requires a 1/4-inch - 20 bolt to mount securely on your car's dashboard or air vent. I've opted for a 5/8-inch pan head bolt from RAM Mounts, paired with their 1 Inch Ball with 1/4-20 Female Thread (part number RAM-B-348U). The setup holds steady and doesn't vibrate, providing an optimal charging experience. I'm extremely satisfied with this design, despite the minor issue of a failed print due to material support failure at the end. The resulting product still functions flawlessly. While it may be a bit challenging to work with supports, this design works remarkably well overall.
