Car Dash Popsocket Phone Mount
thingiverse
I designed a custom phone mount in SolidWorks for my trusty 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The design calls for screws to be inserted into the curved portion of the dash, right next to the stereo system. To avoid damaging the dashboard, I drilled holes and then secured it with bolts. This solution should work equally well on later XJ models (97-01) and TJ dashes. A popsocket clip was attached using adhesive, ensuring my phone remains securely in place. I employed a popsocket clip from Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2499439), but the actual clip sold by PopSocket could also be used. To prepare for printing, rotate the part so it lies flat on the build surface. I opted for a .2mm layer thickness and 30% infill during my print job, but feel free to experiment with different settings as desired. The resulting product seems strong enough, although I haven't yet subjected it to off-road testing.
