Car Cup with Lid, Print-In-Place
thingiverse
The Honda Jazz/Fit 2007-2015 includes a cup ash-tray for storing car park change, but a metal grill at the top blocks access to your hand. This makes it difficult to retrieve money from the tray. To overcome this issue, I designed a new cup that can be printed in-place without any modifications. The custom cup fits snugly into a standard cup holder. This is my first in-place design project, and while it may not be as polished as others, its primary function remains intact. It's essential to print at a 0.2mm layer height for optimal results; 0.1mm might also work, but the outcome could vary. When opening the lid for the first time, handle it carefully, as there is a single-layer bridge supporting the hinge during printing. Breaking this bridge will occur when you initially open the lid. If you plan to use the cup in a car, I highly recommend using PETG material due to its resistance to heat and warping. Inside a vehicle, temperatures can soar during summer months, causing PLA to soften or warp significantly. I've only tested this design with Slic3r Prusa Edition, but other slicers should also work effectively as long as there's a gap between the lid and body, along with a single-layer bridge supporting the hinge.
