Car charger case upgrade

After a year of hit-or-miss use, my trusty Batpower UL 120W 90W PD USB-C car charger finally gave up the ghost. The spring-loaded tip snapped, and from that point on, it refused to make proper contact with the cigarette lighter socket. It had been working like a charm for charging my MacBook Pro 2018 15" from 12 volts in my camper van, but I often worried about its tendency to overheat - an issue that could have been easily addressed by isolating the electronics in a separate metal enclosure, away from the plug itself. Rather than trying to track down a replacement from some obscure online retailer, I decided to take a chance and repurpose the broken charger into something it should have been in the first place. Proceed at your own risk!
