Car Cell Phone Holder (2019 Ford Edge)
thingiverse
I designed a cell phone holder for my car, specifically for my 2019 Ford Edge. My goal was to create a device that would allow me to easily access navigation while driving. In past vehicles, I had used magnetic holders but found them difficult to replicate on my own. I drew inspiration from a geared phone holder design available on the Thingiverse landing page (Thing #3681512), which sparked an idea for an upright version. I needed a holder that could accommodate my iPhone XR with a Speck Products Presidio Grip case, but it also works well with other models and sizes. The device is designed to fit phones with widths ranging from 75mm to 90mm and heights between 100mm and 150mm. Here are the print settings I recommend: * Use PETG filament as it is less prone to melting in hot temperatures. * Print at a layer height of 0.2mm, nozzle size of 0.4mm, and line width of 0.5mm. * Ensure that all parts with printed threads are perpendicular to the build plate. * For the PIN.stl part, use 100% infill and a brim, with Z-hop enabled. When printing the Screw_x6.stl, apply a small amount of vegetable oil to the threads for better performance. You may also want to print two extra nuts to stack on top of the pin for added stability.
