Car Cell Phone Holder (2019 Ford Edge)
thingiverse
Here is my version of a cell phone holder for the car. I have a 2019 Ford Edge and I wanted my phone easily accessible for navigation purposes. In past cars I had a magnetic holder and in my attempts to reproduce something similar I was unsuccessful. For this I drew inspiration from one of the things on the Thingiverse landing page (Thing # 3681512) for a geared phone holder. Mine I wanted it to be upright not sideways like the other. The phone I have is an iPhone XR with a Speck Products Presidio Grip iPhone XR Case. This was the targeted use but I have used it with other models and it works fine. There is no interference to any of the side buttons or lightning port on the XR as seen in the pictures. Phone specs that it will hold: Max Width 90mm Min Width 75mm iPhone XR with case width 82mm Min Height 100mm Print Settings: PETG is recommended as I have tried PLA with similat car devices and they have melted in the summer heat. 0.2mm layer height, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.5mm line width All parts with printed threads should be perpendicular to build plate. The PIN.stl should be 100% infil with a Brim, Z hop enabled. Print 6 of the Screw_x6.stl, A little vegetable oil on the threads helps. You may want to print 2 of the nuts and I have mine stacked on the pin to dampen vibration, the first one is tightened on the MainAssy to keep it from loosening Install the Pin ball in the Base socket then screw the RetainingNut onto the socket for stiffness and tighten to adjust the friction on the ball. A little vegetable oil on the threads helps. keep track of the left and right arms/gears use the drawing for proper assembly If you remix the "MainAssy" the Pin.stl attaches with a RH M10x1.5 thread.
