Car Bag Restraint - Stops your bag flying forward in your car
myminifactory
If you're in the habit of placing your laptop bag or similar item in front of the seat on the passenger side of your car, you may want this solution to prevent your bag from flying forward as you brake. Unrestrained bags usually fly forward when braking, but with this clip, that stops it! Print this handy little clip and get some seat belt webbing (approximately 35 to 40mm wide, a common size used for shoulder straps on bags). Loop or attach it as shown in the images provided. You'll need to figure out the required length, but if you modify a laptop bag's shoulder strap like I did, the clip makes it adjustable. To restrain your bag, simply place the loop end of the webbing over the car seat belt receptacle, pull and secure the seat belt as if there was a passenger in the seat. Then loop the other end of the strap through your bag's handle and attach the 3D printed clip back onto the strap to keep it from flying forward. Making the strap is easy: just modify an existing shoulder strap from a bag, cut it to suit the required length, then hand stitch it (if needed) back into a loop. It's crucial to note that when installed correctly, the closed side of the 3D printed clip must be on the same side as the seat belt receptacle. This ensures the clip can't pull away from the strap as the strap is pulled towards the closed side of the clip. For Nissan owners, there are two .stl files attached: one for the Restraining Clip only and another that includes a seat belt buckle which clips directly into a late model Nissan (Qashqai) seat belt receptacle. This means you don't have to pull the seat belt across and use it to secure the loop end of the strap; instead, just attach the buckle and you're done!
