Car Bag Restraint - Stops your bag flying forward in your car

If you're in the habit of placing your laptop bag or similar item on the passenger side of your car, you might want to consider this hack. Unrestrained bags tend to fly forward when you brake, but with this solution, that problem is a thing of the past. To get started, print out this handy little clip and grab some seat belt webbing - about 35 to 40mm wide, which is a common size used for shoulder straps on bags. Then, loop or attach it as shown in the images provided. You'll need to figure out the right length, but if you modify a laptop bag's shoulder strap like I did, the clip will make it adjustable. To restrain your bag, simply place the loop end of the webbing over the car's seat belt receptacle, pull and secure the seat belt as if there was a passenger in the seat. Then, loop the other end through your bag's handle and attach the 3D printed clip back onto the strap to keep it from flying forward. Making the strap is a breeze - just modify an existing shoulder strap from a bag, cut it to size, and hand-stitch it (if needed) into a loop. Voila! Important note: When installed correctly, the closed side of the 3D printed clip should be on the same side as the seat belt receptacle. This ensures that the clip can't pull away from the strap as it's pulled towards the closed side. Nissan owners take note - there are two STL files attached, one for just the restraining clip and another with a seat belt buckle that clips directly into late model Nissan (Qashqai) seat belt receptacles. This means you don't have to pull the seat belt across to secure the loop end of the strap. Neat! If you like this hack, be sure to check out my other designs!
