Captain Quark Statuet - Dual Extrusion
thingiverse
Captain Quark Statuette Featured in Ratchet And Clank. This Isn't Just a Low-Res Rip from Game Model. I Included a Photo Showing Actual/RenderedModel/InGameModel, and One Before Support Removal to Prove Its 1 Print. Printed in 1 Piece on a 2-Nozzle Machine on the First Go, Using Custom Support Mesh and 6 Filament Changes for an 8-Color Model, Printable on a 2-Color Machine, with No Glue Needed. I Printed at 3600% Scale (16cm Tall Including Head Antenna, About the Height Ratchet Owned) 3 Shells 20% Infill, 0.4mm Nozzle and 0.125mm Layer Height, Took Me 48 Hours Not Including the Pauses While It Was Waiting for Me to Change the Filament. I Added Pauses at Certain Heights to Change Filaments. But Because My Gold and My Copper Require Different Material Profiles I Had to Batch 3 Versions of This and Splice Them Together Manually. 1 for CopperWithGold (Start Till 1st Pause), 1 for MyNormalWithGold (1st Pause Till 3rd Pause), 1 for MyNormalWithMyNormal (3rd Pause Till End). It Was Easy Enough to Splice Them by Finding the PauseAtHeight Scripts, But Be Sure to Count Them Correctly If You Decide to Go Crazy Like Me and Do 8 Colors. Be VERY Careful About Selecting the Correct Layer to Pause On, As a Couple of Spots Do Not Have Any Tolerance in Either Direction. Prepare the G-Code, and Then View It and Write Down Which Layers Require Pauses, Then Add the Pausing Scripts. My Color Layout and Layers to Pause At. Start - Copper with Gold 1 After Base - Brown with Gold 2 After Boots But Before Pants Start (Picky, Asymmetric Ankles) - Green with Gold 3 After Belt - Green with Grey 4 Before Chin But After Upper Wrist (Picky) - Green with Tan (Don't Own Skin Tone Yet, Weird) 5 Before Teeth But After Chin (Picky and Hard to Tell) - Green with White 6 After Eyes - Green with Black You Could Add 1 More (Lol Cause It Needs It) and Make the Last Dot of His Antenna Red. Hint for Cura 3.6, Merge All Meshes, in Preferences Unselect DropAllModelsToBuildPlate, and Then Select the Manual Support Mesh and Select Print as Support and Add a Per-Model Setting "DropDownSupportMesh" and Add It, But Make Sure It's Unselected. I Had Issues Trying to Get Cura to Do What I Wanted, I Think Merging the Models Was Messing with It. You Can Try Tree Supports, but There Are a Couple of Spots That I Had to Force a Bridging to Occur Because the Branches Were Too Aggressive. I Did Add a Model "AllPartsAssembled" to This Upload But Its Simply All of the STLs Together, Not Really Intended for Single Extruder Print as It Would Probably Add Extra Walls and Such, but Its Really for Previewing the Completed Model
