Abe's past was marked by a tumultuous existence on the ship of the greedy pirate Captain Gingerbeard, who sought the Holy Grail, the ultimate treasure of this future world. Abe became obsessed with finding the Grail and joined his captain's quest. When they finally discovered the magic chest containing the Grail, a fierce storm ravaged their ship, leaving Abe as its sole survivor. The young ape lost an arm and an eye in the chaos but his unyielding spirit kept him alive. Unbeknownst to Abe, he was washed ashore on the Mysterious Island, a place isolated from the dystopian world above. This island was once the pinnacle of the old world, home to powerful Ancient beings who protected life on Earth and guarded its secrets. The Ancients, seeing the good in Abe's soul, gifted him with a cyborg arm and an eye-camera, but at a terrible cost - madness consumed his mind due to the advanced technology and the crushing burdens he carried. The storm that destroyed Gingerbeard's ship was no accident; it was orchestrated by the Ancients using their technologies, which also granted Abe new powers as a vigilante. Now, Captain Abe is revered as the Protector of the Chest with the Holy Grail, his base of operations on the Mysterious Island a frequent target for the most nefarious pirates seeking the legendary treasure. Abe's only companion and sidekick is Paulie, a parrot-drone also saved by the Ancients. Abe's cyborg arm grants him unparalleled strength, while his bionic eye provides unmatched vision. Paulie's modified "wings" allow him to traverse hundreds of miles without rest. Captain Abe occasionally succumbs to berserker rages, prompting him to travel alone with Paulie by his side. As the Protector of the Grail, Abe engages in a life of theft, robbery, and murder to survive, earning the fear of even the Ancients. Yet, they know that he will never abandon the Grail's protection, forever bound to its power and purpose.
