Capitoline Frieze

Capitoline Frieze

A marble frieze currently on display in Rome's Capitoline Museum is shrouded in mystery due to a missing display label, rendering its subject and date completely unknown. This low-resolution SfM photogrammetric model was generated using Agisoft Photoscan from 50 photos taken with a handheld compact digital camera - the Panasonic Lumix TZ20. I sought to investigate how this type of model would compare to those captured by tripod-mounted DSLRs in terms of quality, and whether it could effectively capture intricate details of deep relief carvings.
