Lithopanes demand a considerable amount of contrast to achieve their full visual impact. Searching through archived public photos proved to be the simplest way to discover the ideal image. The original photo was taken circa 1900 at Percival Landing in Olympia, WA. According to my knowledge, this ship was part of the Puget Sound's Mosquito Fleet of steamships, which played a vital role in navigating the local terrain well into the 20th century. The original image was retrieved from the Washington State Digital Archives.
