When I was a kid, I always looked forward to our family vacations to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Every year, we'd visit those iconic lighthouses and I'd bring home a souvenir model of one - I finally completed my collection years ago. I've always been fascinated by Cape Hatteras, the most famous NC lighthouse and my favorite, so I thought it would be the perfect choice for the SeeTheWorld challenge. Over the past month, I designed and built a multi-piece 3D model of the lighthouse from scratch, ensuring that every detail was precise enough to print perfectly on a 3D printer. The kit consists of 11 STL files, with one requiring you to print 16 copies - the largest piece measures 182mm in height, while the fully assembled model stands at an impressive 234mm tall. I always intended to paint mine, but you may choose to leave yours unfinished or use different colors of filament for a unique look. To help you create one just like my photo, I've included detailed instructions and accompanying GIF animations that guide you through the printing, assembling, and painting process. If you want your lighthouse to resemble the one in the picture, taken at Shark Fin Cove in Davenport, CA, just follow along!
