Capacitor dummy shell

Capacitor dummy shell

This is a custom capacitor shell used in recapping large old electrolytic capacitors commonly found in vintage audio gear from the 1970s. It can house a modern 8400uf 35v, 18mm diameter by 40mm tall electrolytic capacitor, replacing an original 8200uF 35v capacitor with screw terminals on top. I used approximately 3.4mm computer case screws for the screw mount, which proved to be very convenient. I highly recommend using the v2 shell design as it has a better texture and features teeth on the top for improved grip. The v1 design lacked screw holes, making it difficult to lift the leads from within the cavity.
