Capacitance level sensor
grabcad
A capacitance level sensor gauges fluid levels by measuring the changing capacitance between a tube and an inner rod, with the latter being part of a basic circuit that calculates time taken for a capacitor to reach a specific voltage. The design utilizes standard components, such as rods, tubes, and bolts, to reduce part count. Tube and rod lengths can be altered based on the measuring range. Polystyrene parts separate tube and rod, screwing onto both sides of the rod; no nuts are needed, and this setup maintains tension and accuracy. Injection molding manufactures all plastic components. The sensor connects to the tank using a national pipe thread for ease of installation and replacement.
