From the Old Kingdom onwards, the Cap Crown is consistently attested, but not until the 25th Dynasty does the term sdn emerge as the standard designation for the so-called Kushite cap featuring two uraei. The crown term hprs first appears in the Second Intermediate Period, accompanied by the symbol of the cap, which suggests its derivation. The cap is often depicted without embellishment, but also with horizontal lines or circles, and is typically worn with an uraeus. Colorful representations of the cap are predominantly blue or gold. A single surviving example of this cap can be found on the mummy of Tutankhamun, made from white linen and adorned with intricate embroidery featuring gold and faience beads. The use of this cap in cultic representations has led to its interpretation as a symbol of royal or divine sonship. Interestingly, during the Amarna period, it is not uncommon for the queen to wear this cap, often complementing her Blue Crown. A similarly shaped blue cap is also worn by the god Ptah.
