Cap Collector
thingiverse
I needed a simple way to store my caps in an easy-to-access spot while keeping them secure. The lid holder on offer was expensive, so when I stumbled upon this DIY duplicate at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:340493, I saw an opportunity to save some cash and create something tailored to my needs. Unfortunately, my printer had trouble printing the intricate curves without additional support structures - a hassle I try to avoid whenever possible. So, I designed my own alternative, which I've successfully printed using ABS plastic with a 40% infill density. This design allows me to store three caps on my print bed at once. To use this holder once it's been printed, you'll need to create holes in the ends that will be hung. Drilling these directly into the design proved challenging, so I opted for placing small indents instead - from there, you can drill through to create a hole where you can thread string or wire (as I've done) and secure it with a knot, preventing it from slipping out and creating a neat way to hang your caps.
