I designed a new spooling reel locking mechanism for my cantilever umbrella after its internal ratcheting mechanism broke down beyond repair. I replaced it with a simple hook-shaped reel that worked amazingly well, especially since I printed it with 50% infill in ABS plastic, which gave it the perfect balance of flexibility and firmness. The new reel is sized to snap neatly into place around the main support, ensuring it stays securely attached without ever falling off. Despite being unsure about the exact model of my umbrella, this fix has been a game-changer for me after using a bungee cord as a temporary solution over the course of two summers.
