Canopy Corners for Monoprice Dual head
myminifactory
I own a Monoprice Dual Head Printer and purchased an Acrylic Canopy from FlashForge but discovered that the canopy would fall through the opening at the top of the printer. To rectify this issue, I designed parts to secure the canopy in place. The design consists of four components: Corner1 is positioned under the frame while Corner2 and 3 are screwed onto Corner1; then Corner4 screws into it as a stabilizer, preventing the canopy from slipping off. Corner2 and 3 can be adjusted to accommodate different lengths of the Canopy along the X and Y axes. To determine which corner they go in, simply hold them in place. I used two 12mm x 3mm screws with 6mm countersunk heads and an M3x8mm machine screw to secure the stabilizer. The screws self-tap into the plastic. Note that you should print four of Corner1 and Corner2, as well as two each of Corner3. Ensure that the Bernoulli tubes and wire harness do not bind on the "T" cutout at the back of the canopy. I experienced binding when printing with my heads in the front left corner. To resolve this, I used a Dremel tool to make an arc cut, allowing the harness to clear smoothly. Before installing the canopy, I covered the printer's top with cardboard pieces. Since making a cover for the front of the printer and adding hand hold covers, ABS prints exceptionally well. Prior to using the canopy, I applied PEI to the heated bed; now, with these modifications, ABS is my preferred printing material.
