Canopic Jar Lid

myminifactory

This anthropomorphic jar lid has been meticulously crafted in a human-like style, boasting dimensions of approximately 11.4 cm in height and a diameter of roughly 12 cm. The face is an intense red hue, while the wig, beard, eyebrows, pupils, and eyeliner are rendered in bold black strokes, with the eyeball standing out starkly against a pristine white background. Notably, the face is fairly broad, and the gaze of the head inclines slightly upwards. A cylindrical mechanism seals the lid, likely inserted into the canopic vessel when closed. This artifact dates back to the New Kingdom era, spanning from approximately 1550-1069 BC. It entered the collection via the Lindenmuseum in Stuttgart, Germany. Its inventory number is 1214.
