Canon TS-E 17mm Lens Holder for Perfect Panoramas
thingiverse
Oh shift! For distortion free panoramas, move your camera, not your lens!!! Do you want distortion free panorama photos from your Canon 17mm TS-E lens mounted to your Eos R mirrorless camera? Of course you do. Sure, for far away subjects, just shifting the lens works and you can even hand hold the camera. (I used to do it this way and it works great.) But what if you have elements in your photo that are both far away AND close? Well, due to parallax errors when moving (shifting) the lens, you will have a harder time stitching and getting a decent panorama without distortion. This holder keeps the lens stationary and lets you shift the CAMERA instead. Since the camera moves, and not the lens, you will have no more distortion errors and stitching will be very easy in your favorite photo editing software. The mount is Arca-Swiss compatible. Don't have an Eos R? Maybe you shoot with another Canon DSLR? No problem. Included is the full Fusion360 file for your editing and hacking enjoyment. Adjust the height of the flat area where the camera rests for your particular camera. Yay open source!!! And don't forget to upload your re-mixes!!! :- ) There are two ready-to-go STL files. "Lens Holder FINAL" is the one you see in the photos. Lens Holder MINIMUM uses less material but might be weaker. I have NOT printed the "Minimum" file, but I thought I'd include it for those who want to save an extra hour of print time. The "MINIMUM" file is also included as a separate Body in the Fusion360 file. The "FINAL" version took my printer a little under 5 and a half hours to print. Of course YMMV. Please note that you will have to rotate the tilt mechanism of your lens so that the tilt moves up and down, not left and right. This allows the flat part of the lens to rest on the holder properly. And use this at your own risk. The holder does a pretty good job of holding the lens and camera, but of course will not keep it from falling out if tipped upside down.
