This adapter allows you to use the Canon RF 70-200 Tripod Mount (Ring E WIII) with the Canon RF 100mm Macro lens instead of having to purchase and carry around another tripod mount. I cannot certify the strength of the collar, however for macro photography and basic stability it is sufficient. Would not recommend subjecting the collar to stress of walking or any addition strain on the groves.
