Canon PowerShot SX Series Filter Adapter

Allows Canon SX60 cameras (and probably others in the SX series) to mount a 58mm filter securely. I needed to use my Canon SX60 for a video shoot out in very bright sunny outdoor settings, where even ISO 100 and the smallest aperture available (f/8) weren't enough to keep my shutter speed down to 1/60th of a second for recording 30FPS video. The answer was an ND filter, but I quickly discovered this camera has no filter threads. Canon and some 3rd parties sell adapters that lock onto the front of the lens, bayonet style, and provide filter threads, but I couldn't get one shipped in time for my shoot. Thingiverse user andreub designed just such an adapter, but his appears to be designed to just tape a chunk of filter material to the front of it after installing. I wanted to use my standard 58mm ND filters. So I took the part of his design that locks onto the bayonet lugs on the lens, and then added a ring that is the proper internal diameter for 58mm threads to jam fit (I suspect all but the most perfectly tuned high-end FDM printers would struggle to resolve actual female filter threads properly at that diameter). Printed at 85% infill with 3 walls and 4 floor/ceiling layers, using a .16mm layer height. Took a bit of tinkering with tolerances to get the filter threads to fit just right, and for the bayonet lugs on the part to hold securely, but not so tight that it felt risky to force them into place on the lens. You may have to go up or down as much as +/- 2% scale to get it perfect for your camera, depending on your printer. I don't own previous or later generations of the SX60, but it's my understanding that most or all of them share the same lens diameter and outer design, so this will likely work on most SX-series cameras. Let me know if you test one that isn't the SX60. Worked like a charm, held my filter in place securely through a rather bumpy shoot with lots of running and zooming, and I was able to get my shutter speed to 1/60 without overexposing using a 2-stop ND filter.
