This lens housing has been optimized specifically for Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM. The new EF 50mm f1.8 STM keeps the same focal length and aperture as its predecessor, along with a six-element five-group construction. It boasts seven diaphragm blades instead of five, promising smoother out-of-focus effects, and a closer focusing distance of 35cm compared to 45cm. The plastic lens mount has been replaced by a metal one, weighing in at 30 grams more and featuring a slightly narrower filter thread of 49mm. Most importantly, the slow and noisy micro motor AF system has been swapped for Canon's faster and quieter STM system, ideal for movies. Unfortunately, I initially claimed it was a cinematic lens rehousing project, but there's little that enhances the functionality of the AF lens itself. Manually focusing will help a bit, but it's mostly just a cosmetic upgrade. Enjoy! Parts include M5 fixing grub screws x3 and a 49-82 step-up ring(filter adapter).
