Canon Dummy Battery
thingiverse
The dummy battery is designed for Canon IXUS/SD series digital cameras (NB-4L). To fit it perfectly, some edge sanding was required. Next steps include adding conductors for battery terminals, enabling DC supply connection. Although Canon offers a similar product, its cost is high; eBay's cheapest option still doubled the camera price. This camera and other Canons in this series support CHDK, which allows time-lapse and remote triggering. However, a single battery drains quickly, emphasizing the need for a DC supply. The dummy battery project is part of a bigger initiative to enhance Schmarty's work, requiring software modifications to ReplicatorG and Thing-O-Matic motherboard firmware. Please share any insights on conductor addition techniques, considering nail-like conductors inserted into the design for solder wire connections.
