If you plan to save a set of Canon CLI-8 cartridges for future use after refilling, it's essential to prevent ink leakage. The clips securely hold the cartridge in an upright position and seal the opening to stop leaks. To achieve this seal, use 2mm sticky foam tape or cut-to-size 2mm silicone sheets. I recommend resetting the chip first, followed by filling and storing the cartridges.
