In my initial attempt at creating a printable object, I utilized Google Sketchup to draw an exact replica of a small plastic part from Canon AE-1 and AE-1 Program cameras. Its primary function was to prevent light leakage by covering the viewfinder when not in use. Often lost due to its dual purpose of opening the battery compartment, this part could also serve as the cover for the hotshoe on top of the camera. I measured the dimensions with a digital micrometer/caliper and subsequently exported the design as an STL file after drawing it in Sketchup, using the skp_to_dxf.rbz extension.
