Canon 40D and 50D battery door
thingiverse
Hey there! *Edit: I tweaked the door slightly, uploaded the brand new WHOLE KIT and DOOR files - if you spot two of them, go for the latest one. I'm experiencing some issues with Thingiverse right now. Hi again! I picked up a vintage 40D camera, but it lacked a battery door (came with a battery grip, door removed). I forgot to ask for it when I purchased the camera, so I decided to create my own. This part was a challenging project, requiring plenty of tweaking. However, it fits perfectly now. I printed mine out of PETG, which is ideal due to its springiness - the clip part features a plastic spring, making PLA unlikely to work well. I'm not sure about other materials. To make this work, you need to print everything first, then insert the small oval button into the hole on the "y" shaped bit. That's your button. I used superglue to hold it together (I designed loose tolerances because my printer isn't great; I ended up filling the original part before adjusting the file). Next, you lay the button/clip inside the door, with the newly inserted button poking through the hole in the door. The final step involves applying a small amount of sticky tack (poster gum), double-sided tape, or whatever works best. You glue the backing on top (glue it on the sides, away from the button - otherwise, it'll stick). And that's it! Don't be afraid to file parts that are too tight, but honestly, it should fit perfectly. Good luck, and if you like this, click "like" - it'd make my day! **I'd love to see some makes... just a tiny picture will do.
