Cannon from Castle of Buedingen
myminifactory
Fifty years ago, I caught a glimpse of a cannon at Buedingen Castle in Germany. After snapping several photographs, I crafted a scale model of it using steel and wood. To add an extra touch of elegance, I designed the metal fixtures with ornate details. Years later, I returned to see the cannon again for closer inspection, but unfortunately, it had vanished. As a result, I can no longer determine its type or size. Once I uploaded the naval cannon design, I wanted to tackle this one as well, but I was stumped on how to create printable wheels that looked authentic. My solution was to replicate the real thing, but even then, I struggled with creating realistic spokes until I hit upon a clever workaround: splitting them in two. To achieve the most lifelike appearance possible, I discovered that crafting the felloe from six distinct segments is the way to go. If you prefer a single-piece felloe, you'll need to opt for the split hub design instead. With this approach, you can first insert all the spokes into the felloe and then bring the two half-hubs together, securing them in place.
