Cannon from Castle of Buedingen
cults3d
I saw a cannon at the castle of Buedingen in Germany 50 years ago. I took several photographs, then built a model of it from steel and wood to capture its essence. To make it more visually appealing, I designed the metal fittings with intricate details. Later, I returned to see the cannon again for further study but unfortunately, it was no longer there. As a result, I couldn't determine what type or size it was. After creating a digital model of a naval cannon on cults3d.com, I wanted to design this one as well, but I didn't know how to create proper wheels that could be printed accurately. The only way I found was to replicate the real thing's design. However, the spokes remained a challenge until I decided to split them in two parts. The most realistic approach is to create the felloe from six segments. If you want to use the complete felloe in one piece, you'll need to take the split hub instead. This way, you can first place all spokes into the felloe and then push the two half-hubs together. To make all parts printable, I had to make some adjustments. You will need the following items: A 3 mm x 190mm brass shaft for the axle, which you can flatten with a hammer. Then drill a 1.5 mm hole. Some nails and needles to secure the fittings. Three M3 x 56mm threaded rods with nuts. One rod made of 3mm diameter material, measuring 49mm long.
