Canning Jar Lids
thingiverse
These lids were inspired by and designed based on measurements from similar lids like this: http://www.amazon.com/36010-Mason-Canning-Plastic-Storage/dp/B001ASXI8. Available in regular mouth and wide mouth versions, these lids fit standard canning jars perfectly. If printed well and tightened properly, they form a tighter seal than the commercially available counterparts mentioned above. They are ideal for storing dry goods, non-food small parts, opened canned goods in the refrigerator, and probably even in the freezer. The low-poly design of these lids makes them easy to grip and apply a good amount of torque with bare hands. Printed using ProtoParadigm's green PLA filament on a MakerGear Mosaic 3D printer, additional accessories will soon be released that use this lid as the base. To print your own canning jar lid, load up the STL file for either wide mouth or regular canning jars in your 3D printer software and follow the instructions provided. You may need to clean up some stray threads with tweezers, but it shouldn't affect the functionality of the lid. The lids use Thread Library by syvwlch, so ensure you have this installed before rendering.
