Cane parts for PVC
thingiverse
I had some 1/2" Sched. 40 PVC lying around, as well as an old shift knob and decided to make up some parts for canes to dress up with. The pieces into the 1/2" PVC are snug, and I used a rubber mallet to help fit things on. They can pull off with some effort, but are intended to stay on once on. The tip sleeve and knob are designed to print and then place on a precut piece of 1/2" PVC. I printed without supports, orientated with the hollowed side up. I did 20% infill, to ensure it would hold up to handling. The knob connector is not needed to use supplied knob file. I made the connector so one side would fit in the PVC, and the other end could hold an old shift knob. The shift knob would fit loosely and then use the set screws to tighten on. The connector fits very firmly into the PVC, to remove I had to cut the pipe and then use a screw driver to knock out.I made two canes: one with the sleeve and knob (not yet painted); and one with the connector using an old shift knob with spare rubber cane tip I had lying around. For use in walking, the tip is still slick on hard surfaces. Not so much a problem when used for costume, but if regular use a rubber foot may be better. I used this for reference of the PVC ID and OD:https://formufit.com/pages/pvc-pipe-size-dimensions-chartThe connector sleeve and knob were designed in OpenSCAD using difference, cylinder, and translate.
